Patricia Méndez Obregón was born in Navojoa, in the state of Sonora, México, in 1966.
Photographer that since 1998, she has dedicated her work to observe, investigate and document the ceremonies and rites related to the figure of “El Niño Fidencio” in Espinazo in the state of Nuevo León. She is the author of the photographic project “Fe y Fidencio” (Faith and Fidencio).
In 1987, Patricia received her engineering degree in computer science from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Monterrey. As a photographer, she received honorary mention in the X National Photography Biennale in Mexico in 2002, and she was one of the finalists in the 1st Art Biennale Ex-A-Tec in Mexico in 2014.
Until today, she has had 20 individual exhibits, among which the most important ones are:
- Fe y Fidencio: in the Centro Fotográfico Manuel Álvarez Bravo in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2005; in the Municipal Museum of Albacete, Spain 2006; in Casa Escorza of the Universidad de Guadalajara; Mexico in 2011.
- On the Road Towards No-Violence - OraWorldMandala Between India and Mexico, in the Colegio de México in 2011 and in the Instituto Politécnico Nacional in 2013, both in Mexico City.
Patricia has also participated in more than 20 collective exhibits, among them:
- ‘Moments of Recognition’ in the International Center of Photography in New York in 2011.
- ‘XV Years of the Workshop of Mary Ellen Mark’ in the Fototeca Nacional in Pachuca, Hidalgo, in 2012.
- ‘Proof of Fire in Tepito’ at the Gandhi Monument in Mexico City in 2009.
She has given conferences and collaborated in publications with different institutions such as: Harvard University, Boston University, TV UNAM, National Polytechnic Institute, OraWorldMandala and the Gujarat Vidyapith.
She has also had other participations in different countries such as: United States, Spain, Italy and India.
